Singapore & Malaysia 2020 December Durian Season

As of 5th December 2020, December Durian Season 2020 is late due to heavy rain in areas of Malaysia including Pahang, Johor and Raub. We are trying to ensure the quality of the durians are up to standards before purchasing and providing them to our customers.

Uncertainty of Durian Season, El Nina, Climate Change affects Durian Harvest

The durian season has been fluctuating in recent years, likely due to climate change that has caused uncertainty in rainfalls and temperature. Durian grows best in hot weather. However, this year June we experienced the second coolest June in 20 years with the wettest in a decade. As we know, June has always been the “summer” season of the year but heavy rain was common throughout June 2020. This year, the La Nina climate phenomenon might cause heavy rain to extend to March 2021.

We hope the quality of the durians will stabilise soon as we approach the end of the year and start of the new year.

Nevertheless, remember to bring your umbrella out, enjoy the cooling weather, stay safe and be kind Singapore.
